From Advent Sunday in late November onwards, the enchanting medieval town of Rothenburg is the setting for the finest of Germany’s traditional Christmas markets. A short weekend visit makes for a wonderful break and allows you to pick up some amazingly original festive decorations and gift items.

Suggested Itinerary:

Day 1: Fly into Munich Airport. There is time to drive into the city for a visit to Munich’s Christmas market and a quick look around the historic centre of the Bavarian capital. Then continue north to the medieval city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Day 2: A full free day to enjoy Rothenburg’s Christmas market and to wander the streets of this beautiful, historic town.

Day 3: A leisurely drive this morning down Bavaria’s “Romantic Road” pausing at the charming villages of Nördlingen and Dinkelsbühl. There will be time for some last minute shopping at Dinkelsbühl’s annual Christmas market, before ending up at Munich Airport for the flight home.
