Day-by-Day Itinerary

Saturday 18 December :
Depart on scheduled flight. Dinner on board. Arrive Nairobi Airport in the evening and transfer to the Nairobi Safari Club Hotel for overnight.

Sunday 19 December :
Following an early breakfast you will be transferred to Nairobi Wilson Airport for the short flight to Samburu. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the lodge in time for lunch. Three meals a day are included throughout the trip. An afternoon game drive returns to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight Samburu Simba Lodge.

Monday 20 December :
Early morning and afternoon game drives in the park. The star attractions here are the famous Elephants of the Samburu, but there are other animals too – including gerenuks, dik-diks, oryxes and impalas – and the leopards that prey on them. Overnight Samburu Simba Lodge.

Tuesday 21 December :
After breakfast head south to the Aberdares Mountains and the delightful retreat of Treetops. This charming lodge sits next to a waterhole that attracts all sorts of wildlife during the day and night. The waterhole is floodlit and there is an underground viewing area. Overnight Treetops.

Wednesday 22 December :
Drive on to Lake Nakuru via a visit to the spectacular Nyahururu Falls. An afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park showcases the great flocks of flamingoes on the lake as well as the rich variety of animals on the shore including rhinos, giraffes, baboons and some of Africa’s largest pythons. Thursday 23 December :
Drive across Kenya’s fertile highlands and down the Rift Escarpment to the Maasai Mara game reserve. Check in to the Mara Simba Safari Lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon head out on your first game drive in the Mara. Overnight Mara Simba Lodge.

Friday 24 December :
Get up before dawn today to try one of the great experiences of the world of travel – a balloon ride over the Maasai Mara. This optional excursion costs extra and must be booked in advance. Morning and afternoon game drives in the Mara. The Mara’s shallow rivers are home to crocodiles and hippos. Overnight Mara Simba Lodge.

Saturday 25 December :
A final morning game drive in the Maasai Mara. There are elephants here and rhinos and giraffes as well as the big cats – lions, leopards and cheetahs Take the afternoon flight to Nairobi, where there will be dinner at Carnivore Restaurant before transferring to the airport for the overnight flight to London.

Sunday 26 December :
Arrive home early on Sunday morning.
