Jordan - Wadi Rum

The sleepy Middle Eastern nation of Jordan is one of the best kept secrets of the world of travel. The ruins of the ancient city of Petra, the awesome landscapes of the desert of Wadi Rum and the sunny beaches of the Dead Sea are as enticing as anywhere you could wish for, but they remain for the moment relatively free of the hordes of tourists that flock to some of the more overhyped destinations.

Suggested Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Amman Airport in the evening . You will be met by a representative of our local agent, who will assist you with the visa formalities. Your guide will be waiting in arrivals to take you to your coach. We have arranged for snacks and drinks for you on the coach. Coach transfer to Petra.
Overnight Mövenpick Petra Hotel.

Day 2: Guided tour of the ruined city of Petra with lunch included at the Basin Restaurant. You will have plenty of time to explore the site and you will have the option of hiking up the hill to the Monastery tomb and the High Place of Sacrifice. This day involves a lot of walking, so you will need appropriate footwear. Please also take care to protect your skin against the sun.
There is an evening cookery class at the nearby Petra Kitchen this evening. You can try your hand at preparing some traditional Jordanian recipes and then you eat what you have cooked.
Overnight Mövenpick Petra Hotel.

Day 3: Morning visit to the small site known as Little Petra. Then there is a little bit of time for lunch before the afternoon transfer to Wadi Rum. We will have some drinks and some fruit on the bus for this trip as well. At Wadi Rum there will be a jeep tour of the desert landscape, followed by an evening in a Bedouin-run tented camp. Watch the sun set over the desert before dinner. Evening and night-time temperatures will be cold, so bring warm clothing. A flashlight will also be useful. There are showers with hot water and towels are provided.
Overnight Rainbow Camp.

Day 4: After breakfast, there will be time for a camel trek across the desert before departing for Madaba. See the 6th Century mosaic map in the church of St George and visit the Madaba Archeological Park. Lunch is included today at Haret Jdoudna Restaurant. Drive to Dead Sea via a visit to Mt Nebo, where Moses looked on the Promised Land.
Overnight Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea Hotel

Day 5: A full free day to enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Breakfast is included, but not other meals. A wide range of treatments are available in the hotel’s Anantara Spa. We recommend booking in advance. We can also recommend a visit to the nearby Baptism Site of Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan.
Overnight Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea Hotel.

Day 6: After breakfast transfer to Amman Airport for the flight home
